Why New Age U-Bolts with EPDM Lining?
18 dB Noise Reduction Through EPDM Isolation
The high-density EPDM lining breaks the vibration path between pipe and structure—critical for HVAC systems in hospitals, hotels, and residential buildings where operational noise is a design concern. Unlike bare metal U-bolts that transmit pump vibration and water hammer directly into the building structure, our lined supports deliver measurably quieter mechanical systems.
Precision-Bent with Automated CNC Equipment
Our U-bolts are formed using automated hydraulic bending machines—not manual workshop fabrication. This ensures:
- Consistent bend radius matching pipe OD exactly
- Uniform leg spacing for easy beam mounting
- Parallel threading for smooth nut installation
- Zero weld defects or stress points
Workshop-fabricated U-bolts often have uneven bends, misaligned legs, and inconsistent EPDM placement. Our automated process eliminates these installation headaches.
Extended Thread Length for Field Adjustment
Unlike standard U-bolts with minimal thread engagement, New Age U-bolts feature extended threaded legs—typically 50mm longer than competitors. This allows:
- Easier height adjustment during installation
- Accommodation of thicker structural members
- Four-nut locking configuration (top and bottom on each leg)
- Better load distribution across threaded sections
Site engineers appreciate this when dealing with variable beam depths or when final pipe elevation needs adjustment.
In-House Hot-Dip Galvanization
We control the entire galvanization process at our Abu Rawash facility. After forming and threading, U-bolts are pickled, fluxed, and immersed in molten zinc to achieve 85-100 micron coating thickness per ASTM A153. This provides:
- Superior corrosion protection for 15-20 years in typical conditions
- Better coating adhesion than outsourced galvanizing
- Faster turnaround for urgent project needs
- Consistent finish quality batch-to-batch
️ Pipe Surface Protection
The EPDM lining acts as a protective cushion preventing:
- Coating damage on pre-insulated pipes
- Scratching of stainless steel or special alloy piping
- Galvanic corrosion at dissimilar metal contact points
- Point loading that can dent thin-wall piping
After-Sales Engineering Support

System Application & Movement Control
Configuration 1: Pipe Below Structural Member (Standard Suspension)
Function:
- U-bolt provides vertical support against pipe weight and fluid load
- Restricts horizontal and lateral movement at guide points
- Allows axial thermal expansion/contraction along pipe axis
Typical Use:
- Overhead HVAC piping in mechanical rooms
- Fire sprinkler distribution mains
- Chilled water loop suspension
- Process piping in industrial facilities
Installation: U-bolt legs pass downward through beam flange or mounting plate. Upper nuts set elevation. Lower nuts lock assembly.
Configuration 2: Pipe Above Structural Member (Uplift Restraint)
Function:
- U-bolt prevents uplift (pipe trying to float above support)
- Restricts lateral shifting at restraint points
- Still allows axial pipe movement for thermal expansion
Typical Use:
- Underground or basement piping with buoyancy concerns
- Systems with significant thermal rise creating uplift forces
- Pump discharge lines subject to water hammer
- Seismic bracing anchor points
Installation: U-bolt legs pass upward through beam bottom flange or bracket. Assembly pulls pipe down against structural member.
Noise & Vibration Control
The EPDM Advantage:
- Absorbs high-frequency vibration from pumps, valves, and flow turbulence
- Reduces structure-borne noise transmission by up to 18 dB
- Prevents resonance amplification through building frame
- Maintains acoustic comfort in occupied spaces
Critical Applications:
- Hotel room corridors with overhead HVAC piping
- Hospital patient areas requiring low ambient noise
- Residential buildings with mechanical systems above living spaces
- Recording studios, theaters, and acoustic-sensitive facilities

| Steam & Condensate | 2″ – 6″ | Hot-Dip Galvanized | High-temperature guide supports (EPDM rated to 120°C) |
| Industrial Process Piping | 6″ – 24″ | Hot-Dip Galvanized | Heavy pipe rack installations with vibration isolation |
Installation Guidelines
Structural Requirements
- Verify Beam Capacity: Confirm structural member can support pipe weight + fluid load + safety factor
- Hole Spacing: Drill holes in beam flange matching U-bolt leg spacing (see dimensional table)
- Expansion Analysis: Identify fixed anchor points and guide points in piping stress calculation
- Thermal Movement: Ensure U-bolt does not over-restrict axial expansion at guide locations
Installation Procedure
Step 1: Position U-Bolt
- Place U-bolt around pipe ensuring EPDM lining makes full 360° contact with pipe OD
- Verify pipe sits centered in U-bolt opening (not tilted or offset)
Step 2: Insert Through Support
- Pass threaded legs through pre-drilled holes in beam flange, mounting plate, or pipe rack
- Ensure legs are perpendicular to mounting surface
Step 3: Set Elevation (if pipe suspended below beam)
- Install hex nuts on top side of beam flange
- Tighten evenly to set pipe elevation and transfer load to structure
- Use level or laser to verify pipe slope meets design requirements
Step 4: Lock Assembly
- Install hex nuts on bottom side of beam flange
- Tighten against beam to lock U-bolt position and prevent loosening from vibration
- Four-nut configuration (two per leg) provides maximum stability
Step 5: Final Torque
- Apply torque gradually and evenly on all four nuts
- Do not over-compress EPDM lining — finger-tight plus ¼ turn is typically sufficient
- Over-torquing reduces EPDM cushioning effect and can damage lining
Important Installation Notes
- For high-vibration systems (pump discharge, compressor piping), verify nuts are fully locked
- At pipe guide points, allow small clearance (1-2mm) for axial sliding movement
- At restraint points, snug U-bolt firmly but do not crush EPDM excessively
- Inspect EPDM lining after installation—it should be compressed but not extruded from U-bolt
